VENERATION VS. WORSHIP
Veneration is giving great respect or reverence to something that is sacred or holy. In Catholic teaching, veneration is something that we give to the Saints or the Sacred images like the Nazareno of Quiapo. Veneration is NOT worship.
Worship, on the other hand, is giving adoration that is DUE TO GOD ALONE. In Catholic teaching, the highest form of worship is taking place in the Eucharist where the LORD JESUS HIMSELF is truly present in the form of Bread and Wine.
Therefore, Catholics are NOT IMAGE WORSHIPPERS.
To insist that Catholics are image worshippers is a sin against the commandment: “Thou shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.” #NPJN#Traslacion2020
